Could Zombies Be Real? | Ep. 106

Welcome to another episode of Believing the Bizarre. This month we discuss a major, popular topic that Tyler particularly loves very much: zombies. Of course, the pop culture, Walking Dead style of zombies and the George Romero zombies are not how they originated. Actually, Haitian voodoo is where you can trace the idea and folklore of a zombie back to. But are they real? A lot of existing parasites and illnesses tell us potentially. But, you’ll have to listen to find out! The Haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium | Ep. 104 This week, we travel to Louisville, Kentucky, and discuss one of the most haunted locations in the United States. Originally a hospital for folks suffering from tuberculosis, a wide range of treatments were conducted on patients and thousands of patients died during the Waverly Hills Sanatorium’s medical tenure. They even turned a supplies tunnel into a body chute to transport dead patients late at night. Now, countless paranormal investigators have combed the many hallways of Waverly Hills Sanatorium and claim it is haunted by various ghosts and entities, such as Tommy, the Creeper, the Shy Lady, and the Screaming Lady. But, is it true? Listen now! The Sanatorium functioned as a TB hospital for about 50 years until it shut down in 1961 with the advancement of antibiotics. It is estimated that between 10,000 and 20,000 people died in those 50 years and were subjected to painful treatments such as electroshock therapy and experimental surgeries that sometimes led to collapsed lungs. There were a lot of experiments for the greater good and tests done that probably were done in desperation for the “greater good.” One procedure they would perform involved having infected parts of the lung removed and sometimes the entire lung. Another involved the removal of several rib bones from the chest wall to collapse a lung. Naturally, between the procedures and TB itself, death was a pretty common occurrence at Waverly Hills Sanatorium. Are Jinn Real? Would You Trust a Genie? | Ep. 104 Welcome to Believing the Bizarre. This week, we discuss a very popular spirit (thanks to Disney, of course) that is very different than media portrays them. We are talking about Jinn. Instead of the silly and funny genie that pops out of a lamp or Christina Aguilera’s hit song, Jinn are known to be very mischievous and potentially dangerous to humans. But, are they real? Listen now! Listen on Apple Listen on Spotify What Are Jinn? Are Jinn Evil? Can a lamp actually grant you wishes? Does a secret pocket world love next to ours? What’s up Bizarros?! This week we dive into the myth and folklore of the Jinn. This isn’t the big blue genie you’ve come to know from Aladdin. This is a much more ominous and threatening being. Let’s learn more about Jinn. What is a jinni or jinn for plural? Jinni is also commonly referred to as a genie. They are not what they are portrayed as in Disney films. Actually, the idea that Disney w...

Jinn are a spirit that are things made from smokeless flame. The word comes from “to be hidden” because they live in a place where people cannot go. They do not have their own shape and exist as a formless being until they encounter humans. That is when they take shape. These beings can form into anything. They are also a lot like humans, they live lives and even have communities, they also need to eat. Three things that jinn are known to eat are bone, charcoal, and feces. They can live for hundreds of years versus the limited life span of humans. Jinn can even be killed. One thing that the evil jinn want to do is lead people away from God, kind of like a demon. And they have powers that let them do that. Check out this week’s episode to learn more about Jinn. #believingthebizarre #jinn #djinn #genie #paranormalpodcasts
